Acoran

The geography of Acoran is partly responsible for the parochial nature of its people. The northern borders of Acoran are watched over by virtually impassable mountains ranges, the Camul to the north-west and the Acoran Ranges to the north and east. The Acoran Ranges are only rivalled by the Mahatmahog Mountains in terms of height. With the exception of a little known pass into its northern neighbour of Camulos, the mountains cannot be traversed, although many have tried. They rise steeply, and are made up of dramatic cliff-faces and precipices rather than slopes. The range begins in the south, rising dramatically out of the Arion Ocean. On the western side of the range, deep forests cover the landscape.

Coniferous forests comprised of ironwood trees over 200 hundred feet tall cover much of Acoran . The Acora are adept in scaling the heights of these trees without rope or harness; indeed, the ability to do so is consider a rite of passage for all Acora.

Many rivers flow through Acoran. The great city of Efnissien, is located at the juncture of Acoran's two largest rivers, the Elivagor and the Naiyeni. Efnissien, the city of bridges, is a great metropolis of diverse buildings and intricate waterways. Elidor is Acoran's second largest city, with many academies, universities, churches and guildhalls.

The southern city of Griflet is responsible for all trade. The Acora in the port town tend to be more accommodating of strangers but this is predominantly to facilitate business. The precious fuel 'Cold' is shipped down from Sessymir; in return the Acora make payment of gold coins cut from the rich veins running under the northern mining town of Lucien.

The Royal Shipyards of Griflet are famous throughout the Myr. The design of the Acora ships is highly distinctive. They are unique in using steel and iron for the hulls of their ships (much to the amazement of some other less advanced societies). Acora ships are sleek and although some have forgone the use of sails, using Cold as a means to propel the vessel through the seas, it is the bold designs of the Acora sails that has given them maritime dominance over recent centuries.
