Binshanee

The Binshanee inhabit the Morae Islands in the southern parts of the vast Oshalla Ocean. Little is known about the Binshanee but much is feared. The cries of the Binshanee have been heard by sailors straying too close to the Morae islands. These cries have been said too reduce weak minds to rubble and many ships have been wrecked on the rocky shoals surrounding these islands. The Binshanee have the power of limited flight, not enough to fly across the seas but enough to attack any ships that stray too close to the islands.

It would seem strange that any ships would venture close to the islands but there is a reason why they would do so. The islands run in a loose line from Bregon to the seas surrounding Skirnir in southern Sessymir. The Oshalla Ocean is the most inhospitable tract of water to be found in all Terra. Many ships perish in the attempt to cross it. The northern seas have a rich history of playing havoc with compasses and mechanical instrumentation. The skies above the ocean are often filled with heavy banks of cloud, making navigation by the stars impossible. Add to these factors, fifty foot waves that can disorientate the most experienced sailor in seconds and you have a passage of water so intimidating that traversing it would seem ludicrous. Following the Morae chain north has proven to be one of the most successful ways to cross the Oshalla, and most boats sailing out of Bregon cling to the string on islands like a lifeline. So, the cries of the Binshanee can be dangerous and comforting, as even in the darkest night they offer both madness and security to any sailors making their way across the terrible seas.
