The blood-beaked ostra live in the Stone Forest of Tethra.  They are a one-legged bird with pitiful small wings.  When standing to full height, the blood-beaked ostra stands almost ten feet tall.  Most of this is their long leg.  Their torso is little more than a feathered-covered sphere which is crowned by the blood-coloured beak that gives the creature its name.  It has no eyes but is in possession of an incredible sense of smell that it uses to hunt down swiggu.  The blood-beaked ostra will sit on the shingled floor of the Stone Forest in the shadows of the obelisks that cover the region.  The ostra will continually sniff the air for a sign of any swiggu flying low enough for it to catch.  When the unsuspecting swiggu pass by directly overhead, the ostra will shoot up into the air and snatch its prey out of the sky.  The ostra can jump as high as thirty feet which is high enough to catch the swiggu who cannot fly any higher than twenty-five feet above the ground.
