Friggu are closely related to the common frig but there are a number of distinct differences.  Notably, the skin of the friggu is of a different colour, being bright red as compared to the yellow pigmentation of its cousin.  Friggu tend to be slightly larger than frigs, often growing as large as a man's fist.  They are also better swimmers, but do not jump as high.  The most important pint of distinction lies with the female friggu.  It looks exactly the same as the male but it has a defence mechanism that the male lacks - any predator foolish enough to bite into a female friggu will be on the receiving end of an electrostatic shock that will incapacitate the predator.  As the friggu is amphibious and most attacks occur in rivers, the foolish predator will usually drown as it sinks to the bottom of the river in an unconscious state.  By contrast, any attacker lucky enough to bite into a male friggu will experience a wonderful flavour that explains why so many creatures are willing to risk preying upon the strange amphibian.

The friggu can only be found on the Myr's western continent.  It can be found in slow moving streams and rivers such as the Tiamut River in Tethra and the River Naiyeni in Acoran.
