Helyas is considered to be one of the great nations of the Myr. It has been home to one of the Myr's oldest civilisations, the Helyans, for thousands of years. It is a large arid land of rock and sand. Deep ravines cut their way into the rock. The most significant of these gorges is the one carved out by the Mymidon River which is the Myr's longest river.
Seven cities once crowned the Helyan landscape but now they number six as one of them, Palomides, has been converted into a gigantic arena upon which the Helyan celebrate the bloody games known as the Festival of the Forging every two years.
The majority of Helyas' other cities lie on its long coastline. From east to west, these cities are Terminus, Ceres, Corineus and Tamesis. The spectacular metropolis of Taranis sits on the western face of Mt Taran. The oldest and largest of Helyas' cities is Sulis. This is the seat of government in Helyas. Here the Senate of Sulis sit and deliberate petitions from all over the nation.
Helyas is at peace at the moment, but it has a long history of warfare particularly with its neighbours to the north, Khepera, and the aggressive people of Sessymir.
