Khepera is an arid and largely inhospitable country and nowhere is this demonstrated more clearly than in the Marid, a vast flat plain of sand and rock where boling geysers of water shoot hundreds of feet into the air. Much of Khepera is comprised of shifting sand dunes, some of these hundreds of feet high. Merciless sandstorms whip the dunes across the landscape like waves.
Due to the tempestous nature of the desert winds and the constantly changing landscape, Khepera is a difficult land to navigate. Occasional oases and desert wells exist out amongst the dunes, but finding these is more a matter of luck than skill.
Khepera has two cities of note, El Khadir in the west and El Silat to the east, and many settlements in the foothills of the Mahatmahog Mountains to the east and south. A number of small towns can also be found lining the shores of Lake Erras. Whilst the majority of Khepera's dwell in the cities, quite a few nomadic tribes can be found among the sands. These hardy people herd desert shelp across the country. The nomadic tribes are fiercely independent and proud. Some of Khepera's greatest figures have had their character forged by a tribal existence.
Despite the hostile environment Khepera is home to a number of native animals, most notably the bloater, the calumpf and the sandgup/sandkyte and pufflerok.
