Caliban's End

The Cabal

The Cabal are not a race as such, as they have few physical traits in common with one another. Whilst many are gargantuan in size, this is not true for all. Most of the Cabal are monstrous to look at, and many are in possession of claws, fangs, talons and tails specifically design for pain, but they are not a species derived from a single genetic strain. They are diverse and it is only their innate malevolence that unties them.

It is rare to see two members of the Cabal in close proximity to one another. They have no sense of kinship to one another. For millennia, the Cabal lived deep in the Endless, separated and imprisoned by Morgai spells and tonnes of rock. When Caliban Grayson found himself in their subterranean realm, the Cabal presented him with a tremendous opportunity that he wasted no time in exploiting. Assisted by Succellos, the greatest and most intelligent of all the Cabal, Caliban and the Ghul spent years finding the Cabal and obtaining their allegiance.

Unlike the Ghul, the Cabal do not fear sunlight. They can be killed, but they are not easily dispatched. Although most Cabal do not speak, the majority of them are not dumb brutes. They possess a primeval intelligence, capable of strategy and subterfuge. The Cabal in general have a wisdom forged over centuries of solitary existence, but accompanying this is a disposition verging on madness. The Cabal are not being who tend to appreciate reason.

Among the most significant of the Cabal are: Abaddon, Anaresis, Argas, Fulgora, Katcochila, Kleesto, the Kaggen, the Morrigu, the Ryugin and Succellos.
