The Melody wasn't the most beautiful boat to sail upon Lake Erras but it was dependable and that's what was required when one was making the dangerous trip out to the leper colony of Sanctuary.  The colony lay near the centre of the lake where the churning maelstrom of the Worldpool dwelt.

The ship had been made in Palia to its captain's specifications.  Gamelyn Blake wanted a ship that was sturdy enough to resist the strong currents near Sanctuary but small enough so that it could be manned by a crew of two.

And so The Melody was built, a humble sixty foot trawler with three sails on top and a boiler down below.  As time went by, Gamelyn made small changes to the ship but he would not replace the engine with one using Cold and this made the boat the subject of ridicule at the Block and Tackle Tavern in Palia.  But Gamelyn did not trust anything coming out of Sessymir, especially something as explosive as Cold.

Most days, he relied solely on the wind only using the engine when it was really needed.  

When The Melody wasn't making the run to Sanctuary, she could still be found in the lake's deepest waters where the largest, tastiest carpu awaited Gamelyn's fishing line.
